Snoop Dogg’s Coming to Your WhatsApp Chat?
Meta’s AI avatars can now be integrated into your WhatsApp chats!
Meta recently announced that it has created 20+ new AIs (currently in beta) that you can chat with on their platforms. This includes WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook.
These avatars are integrated with AI for WhatsApp to facilitate immersive interactions. They have unique personalities, and areas of expertise, allowing for a varied range of interactions. This ranges from brotherly advice to golfing tips to roleplaying for D&D games. They can be interacted with one-on-one on a DM or private chat or can be introduced to your group chats to offer their unique perspectives.
Meta has partnered with celebrities, influencers, and SMEs such as Snoop Dogg, Kendall Jenner, and Roy Choi to play them. This means they are voiced, portrayed, and built in collaboration with them. You can ask questions, converse, or play games with them to name a few options. Essentially WhatsApp is going to become a lot more fun!
Meta has also gone the extra step to make each of their avatars more immersive. By equipping them with a complete social media profile, these avatars can showcase more of their interests and style. Another important point to note is that they are not entirely AI-generated. Part of their personalities or responses are based on real responses by the media personality in question.

Meta adds a tag that reads “Imagined by AI” whenever a post or interaction is AI-generated. This can be argued as breaking immersion but is an ethical move that keeps users informed of the fact that these avatars cannot be quoted as fact or the celebrity’s actual opinion.
Additionally, there is no need to worry about data safety as the texts and prompts are protected by end-to-end encryption and cannot be accessed by anyone beyond you and Meta. Another positive is that conversing with an AI avatar does not link your WhatsApp account information on Instagram, Facebook, or any other Meta platforms.
Meta is also planning on adding more avatars to its roster with a star cast including Bear Grylls, Chloe Kim, etc. The end goal is to have virtual avatars powered by AI for WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, and other Meta-offerings. By having celebrities and influencers portray these characters it is easier to humanize them and make users feel comfortable or familiar faster than it generally is. Not all the avatars are based on celebrities and deal with areas like pets, dating, and creative writing. This lets them offer information on fields of interest that may not be as popular or relevant to pop culture figures.
This feature is currently only available in the US and is slowly being improved with user inputs. It is powered by Meta’s Generative AI and integrates with Meta’s other AI tools to provide an extremely immersive experience. Eventually, we can expect a fully fleshed-out version of it to be released to the rest of WhatsApp’s user base.
This is just one of the new AI-based features that is being rolled out by WhatsApp over the next few weeks. Expect more blogs all about the exciting field of AI for WhatsApp! Stay tuned to this blog to learn more about the latest developments in WhatsApp.
